Evening Pilgrimages for Parish Groups:
:
Evening Pilgrimages take the form of a meditative journey in the Cathedral which follows a theme, usually visiting seven features or stopping places. The themes are specially written and unique to Bradford Cathedral, and are unfolded in readings and music by the Pilgrim Readers and Singers. Themes may be topical or historic, with contemporary issues and historic turning points explored in a blend of fact and reflection.

Pilgrimages are a journey of an evening – and of heart and mind and imagination. In the changing perspectives of the building it is possible to experience ‘windows’ on the world, and to experience a new dimension to prayer.

The group will have the privilege of exploring the beautiful Cathedral together in quietness, with opportunity to listen, to think, and to ponder, through light and shadow, stillness and movement, silence and sound, word and song.

The music is varied, in mood and in origin, and readings are drawn from a wealth of literature both ancient and modern, world-wide. They include the most inspiring writers and poets of their day, such as St Augustine, Dag Hammarskjold, Dame Cicely Saunders or Spike Milligan's war poetry. These thought provoking and prayerful pilgrimages offer a peaceful time of reflection in the presence of God, and a chance to hear his music behind the words of life.

A Pilgrimage in your church
Why not ask about the possibility of having a pilgrimage in your own church specially written to celebrate the life of your church and community. One priest recently commented that the pilgrimage in his church had made the walls transparent into the world around, and was a ‘blessing woven around the church which would remain’.

Pilgrimages - no charge but donations are welcome.
